Submit your best makeup tutorial video for a chance to win $50,000 and become NYX's 2016 Beauty Vlogger of the Year.

1. Upload a new or existing YouTube makeup tutorial showing us your favorite look.
Videos will be judged on how well it shows off your artistry, talent, presentation and quality of the video. Check out our guidelines below.

2. Upload your submission video to YouTube
You will have to create an account, if you don’t have one already. Videos can be new or an existing video.

3. Fill out and submit the entry form (will be available April 4th).
Open submissions will be accepted until April 29th, 2016 at 11:59pm PT.

1. Eligibility:

The NYX FACE Fine Artistry of Cosmetics Elites Awards Contest (the “Contest”) is open only to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States (excluding Puerto Rico), the District of Columbia, and Canada (excluding the Province of Quebec) who are at least 14 years of age at date of entry. Anyone under the age of majority in their state, province or territory (eighteen (18) in most of the United States and Canada, nineteen (19) in Alabama, Nebraska, and the following provinces/territories: British Columbia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, Nunavut, and the Yukon, and twenty-one (21) in Mississippi ) at the time of entry must also have the consent of one of his or her parents or legal guardian, and a parent or other legal guardian must agree that these Official Rules apply on behalf of his/her minor child. Employees (and their immediate families (parent, child, spouse or sibling and their respective spouses, regardless of where they reside) and those living in their same households, whether or not related, of NYX Cosmetics (“Sponsor”), Taylor and Pond (“Agency”), HelloWorld, Inc. and their respective parents, affiliates, subsidiaries and advertising and promotion agencies are not eligible to enter or win. Contest is subject to all applicable laws and regulations and is void in Quebec and where prohibited.

Potential winners are subject to verification of eligibility and identity per these Official Rules, which will include a background check and completion of documentation required by Sponsor to complete such background check, the results of which must be completely satisfactory as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Additional eligibility requirements apply for winners, as described below.

3. Agreement to Official Rules:

Participation in this Contest constitutes entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to these Official Rules and Sponsor’s decisions, which are final and binding in all matters related to this Contest. Winning a prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth herein, including Sponsor’s approval of the results of a background check.

4. Timing:

The Contest begins on April 4, 2016 12:00 PM United States Pacific Time ("PT"), ends on August 20, 2016 at 11:59 PM PT (the "Contest Period"), and consists of eight (8) phases as set forth in the chart below.

6. How to Enter:

To participate: You must have a non-private YouTube account. If you do not have a YouTube account, go to www.YouTube.com and create an account according to the instructions on the website. Creating an account is free and you may be asked to agree to the terms of service and privacy policy of the relevant platform. This Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with YouTube. If you choose to enter using your mobile phone, standard data fees may apply. See your wireless provider for pricing plan details.

During the Initial Submission Phase, visit www.nyxfaceawards.com/enter follow the links and instructions to complete and submit the registration form, including your name, phone number, valid email address, a valid home address, and a link to a video that best exemplifies your talent as a Beauty Vlogger (your "Submission"). Watch the guideline video to make sure that you Submission matches the requirements and restrictions. The video can be a pre-existing video or one created specifically for this contest. Here are some but not all of the important guidelines and restrictions:

  1. Your Submission may not exceed fifteen (15) minutes.
  2. You may make up your own face or use a model; if you use a model, your model must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  3. You may use any cosmetic products you would like; however brand names and logos of products other than the Sponsor’s must not be displayed or mentioned in your video. Your use of or reference to Sponsor’s products will not positively impact the Winner Determination process described below in Section 9.

By entering this contest and agreeing to these Official Rules, each entrant represents and warrants that he or she is the person listed on the entry form. If entrant is under the age of majority in his/her state or province a parent or legal guardian must agree to the Official Rules.

By uploading your initial Submission or any other Submission during the Contest, you agree that it conforms to the guidelines, requirements, permissions, and content restrictions listed below and that Sponsor, in its sole discretion, may disqualify you if it believes that it fails to conform.


Requirements: Entrants agree that during the Contest Period, they will not post any of their Submissions on Facebook or any other social network.

Permissions: Entrant must have permission from the model and any other individuals who appear in the Submission consent to the use of the Submission in the Contest to use their names and likenesses in the Submission and to grant the rights set forth herein. Other than the entrant, all other individuals must be at least 18 years of age. If requested, entrant must be able to provide such permissions or proof in a form acceptable to Sponsor.

Content Restrictions:

  • Entrant's Submission must be his/her original work;
  • Entrant may not make any claims or beliefs (positive or negative) about any product or its performance;
  • Entrant may not make any statement about a brand other than Sponsor’s (including mere reference of its use);
  • Product logos and brand names other than Sponsor’s may not be displayed;
  • Submissions must not contain material that violates or infringes another’s rights, including but not limited to privacy, publicity or intellectual property rights, or that constitutes copyright infringement;
  • Submissions must not disparage Sponsor or any other person or party;
  • Submissions must not contain brand names or trademarks other than those owned by Sponsor, which entrant has a limited license to use to incorporate in his/her Submission in this Contest;
  • Submissions may only contain music provided by Sponsor;
  • Submissions must not contain any content not created by entrant;
  • Submissions must not contain material that is inappropriate, indecent, obscene hateful, tortious, defamatory, slanderous or libelous;
  • Submissions must not contain material that promotes bigotry, racism, hatred or harm against any group or individual or promotes discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age; and
  • Submissions must not contain material that is unlawful, in violation of or contrary to the laws or regulations in any state where Submission is created.

Limit: Each entrant may upload one (1) Submission in the Initial Submission phase and if invited, may provide one (1) Submission to the Sponsor for Semi-Finalists Challenges. Submissions received from any person, email address or YouTube account in excess of the stated limit will be void. Submissions generated by script, macro or other automated means are void. Released Parties (as defined in Section 14, below) are not responsible for lost, late, stolen, damaged, incomplete, invalid, un-intelligible, garbled, delayed or misdirected Submissions; all of which will be void. In the event of a dispute as to any Submission, the authorized account holder of the email address used to register will be deemed to be the entrant and must comply with these Official Rules. The "authorized account holder" is the natural person assigned an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted address. Each entrant may be required to show proof of being an authorized account holder.

7. Sponsor's Use of all Submissions:

Uploading any Submission constitutes entrant’s consent to give Sponsor, and its affiliates, a royalty-free, irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, modify, publish, create derivative works from, and display such Submission in whole or in part, on a worldwide basis, and to incorporate it into other works, in any form, media or technology now known or later developed, including for promotional or marketing purposes. If requested, entrant will sign any documentation that may be required for Sponsor or its designees to make use of the non-exclusive rights entrant is granting to use the Submission.

8. No Compensation Provided:

By participating in this Contest, entrant acknowledges and agrees that Sponsor may obtain many Submissions in connection with this Contest and/or other contests staged and/or promoted by the Sponsor, and that such Submissions may be similar or identical in theme, idea, format or other respects to Entrant's Submission. Moreover, entrant acknowledges that his/her Submissions may be similar to materials developed by the Sponsor. Entrant waives any and all claims entrant may have now or in the future that any compensation is due to entrant in connection with any Submission or other material provided.

9. Determination of Semi-Finalists and Finalists:

Winners will be determined by the following process: First, the Sponsor will select thirty Semi-Finalists based on the objective judging process described below. Semi-Finalists will be invited to participate in up to three (3) additional video challenges. The public will be permitted to vote on the Semi-Finalist's Submissions and those with the highest number of votes will be invited to continue. The final six (6) entrants ("Finalists") will be invited to participate in the Final Submission process that will take place in Los Angeles. Failure to timely provide Semi-Finalist Submissions or compete other requirements listed below may result in forfeiture of a prize. The full process is described below.

a. Initial Judging Phase: After the conclusion of the Initial Submission phase, a panel of qualified judges determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion will select the thirty (30) entrants with the highest-scoring Submissions (the "Semi-Finalists") from among all eligible Submissions based on the following criteria (“Judging Criteria”):

  • 25% Creativity of the look;
  • 20% Presentation/Educational value of the tutorial;
  • 20% Artistry in makeup application;
  • 20% Quality of the video production;
  • 15% Presentation of the tutorial

In the event of a tie, the entrant whose Submission received the highest score for “creativity of the look” as determined by the qualified judges, in their sole discretion, will be deemed the applicable Semi-Finalist. In the event of a tied high score in “creativity of the look” the tied high scores will be re-judged and the one with the highest score will be deemed the Semi-Finalist. Sponsor reserves the right to select fewer than thirty (30) Semi-Finalists, if, in its sole discretion, it does not receive a sufficient number of eligible and qualified Submissions. The thirty (30) selected entrants will be notified by email or phone, using information provided on the entry form.

b. Video Challenges for Invited Semi-Finalists: The thirty (30) Semi-Finalists selected after the first challenge must be prepared to participate in up to three (3) additional video challenges, as described below to continue in the Contest.

Prior to the beginning of each Video Challenge (dates set forth in the chart above in Section 5), the applicable Semi-Finalists will be invited to participate. Sponsor will announce the theme for each Video Challenge online at www.nyxfaceawards.com at the beginning of each Video Challenge. Semi-Finalists must create a Submission consistent with the theme provided and all of the guidelines, requirements, permissions, and content restrictions listed in Section 5. Submissions provided after the end date for the applicable Video Challenge may not be included in the gallery for public voting.

c. Public Voting: After each Video Challenge, there will be a public voting period. During each of the three (3) Public Voting Phases, (dates/times set forth in the Chart in Section 5), the applicable Semi-Finalists’ Submissions will be posted for public voting at www.nyxfaceawards.com. Individuals may vote for the Submission they believe is the best. Limit: three (3) votes per e-mail address and per person, each day during the applicable Voting Phase. For the purposes of this Contest a day is defined as beginning at 12:00 AM (midnight) PT and ending at the following 11:59 PM PT. On the days in which the Voting Phrase opens at 12:00 PM PT, voting for that day ends at 11:59 PM PT. Multiple votes received from any person or email address in excess of the stated number will be void. Any attempt by any Semi-Finalist or voter to obtain votes by any fraudulent or inappropriate means, including without limitation, offering prizes or other inducements to members of the public as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, by using any automated program, by using multiple/different email addresses, identities, registrations and logins, or any other methods, will void those votes for the Submission and Semi-Finalist may be disqualified as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to revise the vote counts should the voting as a whole appear to have been tampered with or manipulated in significant way.

d. Determination of Semi-Finalists that Continue in the Contest: After each public Voting Phase, the Submissions with the most valid votes will proceed to the next Challenge. In the event of a tie in votes after any of the Public Voting Phases, Sponsor will select the applicable Semi-Finalist to continue in the Contest using the Judging Criteria listed above to score the applicable Challenge Submission. The number of Semi-Finalists that will continue in the Contest for each Challenge is as follows:

  • Top Twenty (20) Semi-Finalists will be invited to participate in the 2nd Video Challenge
  • Top Twelve (12) Semi-Finalists will be invited to participate in the 3rd Video Challenge
  • Top Six (6) Finalists will be invited to participate (pending confirmation and passing a background check) in the Final Challenge in Los Angeles.

Sponsor will notify the Semi-Finalists who will continue by email and/or phone prior to the beginning of the next Challenge Submission Phase.

10. Finalist Notification:

The potential six (6) Finalists will be notified by email or phone on or after July 25, 2016 using contact information provided on the entry form. The potential Finalists (or parent or legal guardian where entrant is a minor in his/her place of locations) will be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility and Release and where not prohibited Publicity Release, including agreement for Sponsor to perform a background check, which must be received by Sponsor within three (3) days of the date notice or attempted notice is sent, in order to claim his/her prize. The potential Finalists will be confirmed upon Sponsor’s satisfaction with and approval of the results of the background check. If a potential Finalist cannot be contacted, fails to execute and return the Affidavit of Eligibility and Release and Publicity Release or provide any other requested information within the required time period (as applicable), does not comply with these Official Rules, or notification is returned as undeliverable, potential Finalists forfeits the prize. If a potential Finalist is disqualified for any reason, the applicable prize may be awarded to a runner-up, if any, in Sponsor’s sole discretion.

11. Finalist Travel, Submission & Judging and Additional Requirements::

a. Finalists’ Travel to Los Angeles, California: Finalists, including one parent or legal guardian of each Finalist who is a Minor, will be provided a paid fourteen (14) night stay in Los Angeles, California, including: coach, standard or economy-class round-trip airfare or other transportation (as selected by Sponsor) from a major airport near the Finalist’s home (airport and airline or other transportation selected by Sponsor in its sole discretion), one (1) standard room double occupancy hotel room at a hotel selected by Sponsor with a ranking of three or more stars (to be shared by Finalist and his or her parent or legal guardian for any Finalist who is a Minor), a $50 USD stipend per day for meals and beverages (for each Finalist and for the parent or legal guardian of any Finalist who is a Minor), reimbursement for ground transportation to and from the hotel and Los Angeles International airport for a maximum of $65 USD per one-way transport (to be shared by Finalist and his or her parent or legal guardian, if the Finalist is a Minor), and transportation to the event location(s), provided by Sponsor. All other expenses not specified above including, but not limited to, all other meals, beverages, gratuities, incidentals, taxes, other ground transportation, and baggage handling fees for bags in excess of one bag per Finalist (and the parent or guardian of a Finalist who is a Minor), are the sole responsibility of the each Finalist (Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”): $5,000 USD per person). Final actual value at time of booking and travel may be substantially more or less depending on point of origin and ticket availability. Finalists and the parent or legal guardian of any Finalist who is a Minor shall reasonably cooperate with Sponsor to arrange for the prompt booking of their travel arrangements. All airline or other travel tickets once booked cannot be changed unless Sponsor in its sole discretion consents. Any additional fees or penalties incurred as a consequence of any changes made to any travel arrangements after they are booked that are made at the request of a Finalist (or his or her parent or legal guardian) are the sole responsibility of such Finalist (or his or her parent or legal guardian) and shall be deducted from the aforementioned $50 stipend. All Finalists (and his or her parent or legal guardian, for any Finalist who is a Minor), are solely responsible for obtaining any necessary travel documents, including photo identification, visas and/or passports. Sponsor does not provide travel or other insurance.

b. Final Contest Submission in Los Angeles, California: August 7, 2016 - August 20, 2016. During the week of August 7, 2016 Sponsor will provide the Finalists work space and selection of NYX cosmetics (all determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion) and a final theme. Finalists will be directed to create a ninety (90) second video Submission that shows the final look created by August 6, 2016 at a time provided by Sponsor. The final Runway Show will be filmed and will be streamed live. At the final Runway Show which will take place on August 20, 2015, each Finalists will be permitted to introduce his/her Submission and show the Submission for the final panel of Judges and those watching the live stream. After all of the Finalist's Submission are presented, the moderator will invite the public to vote ( at www.nyxfaceawards.com/) on one (1) Submission that they like the best. The Final judging panel (made up of four (4) judges selected by Sponsor) will score each of the Finalist's Submissions based on the following Judging Criteria:

  • 23.75% Creativity of the look;
  • 23.75% Personality of Finalist and Emotion developed by Finalist in Submission;
  • 23.75% Artistry in makeup application;
  • 23.75% Overall Composition and Quality of the Submission;
  • 5% Public Appeal (based on voting during the Live Stream of the Final Runway Show)

The Finalist with the highest-scoring Final Submission will be deemed the potential Grand Prize winner and the remaining Finalists will be deemed potential First Prize winners. In the event of a tie, the Finalist with the highest score for Overall Composition and Quality of the Submission will be deemed the potential Grand Prize Winner. Sponsor reserves the right to not select a Grand Prize winner or all five (5) First Prize winners, if, in its sole discretion, it does not receive a sufficient number of eligible and qualified Submissions.

c. Additional Activities and Requirements during Week in Los Angeles California: August 7, 2016 – August 20, 2016: During this week, Sponsor will film Finalist during various activities, including visit to Sponsor's headquarters, its showrooms and when Finalist meets with a professional team of models, and stylists ("Prize Footage"). Prize Footage will be used to create a vignette that will be shown at the Final Runway Show. Sponsor and its agents shall have the right to edit, exploit, adapt, distribute, post, create derivative works of, and otherwise use the Prize Footage, in whole or in part, together with the Firm's name, city, state, and/or prize information, and in combination with other materials, in any manner, for any advertising, promotional, trade, commercial or other purposes in any and all media, now or hereafter devised, worldwide without limitation and without further payment, notification, permission or other consideration to winner or any third party, except where prohibited by law. Sponsor shall not incur any liability whatsoever to the extent Sponsor chooses to refrain from any exploitation of its rights hereunder.

12. Prizes:

ONE (1) GRAND PRIZE: $50,000 Cash. Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”): $50,000 USD Cash. Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”): $50,000 USD; $1,000 USD worth of NYX cosmetic products, as determined by Sponsor, $1,000 USD ARV; industry consultation with a corporate sponsor of the Final Event to be selected by Sponsor; date to be selected by Sponsor in consultation with Grand Prize Winner. Travel and accommodation expenses and arrangements to be handled and paid for by Grand Prize Winner, $500 ARV. Total ARV of Grand Prize, $56,500 (including the value of the trip to Los Angeles). FIRST PRIZE: FIVE (5) FIRST PRIZES: $15,000 USD Cash, $15,000 ARV; a selection of NYX cosmetic product, as determined by Sponsor, $1,000 USD ARV. Total ARV of First Prizes (including the value of the trip to Los Angeles) $21,000 USD.

Total ARV of all prizes: $161,500 USD.

For All Prizes: Prizes are awarded “as is” with no warranty or guarantee, either express or implied by Sponsor. Actual value of may vary based on point of departure. Any difference between stated value and actual value will not be awarded. Trip must be taken on dates specified by Sponsor or prize will be forfeited and Sponsor will have no further obligation to such winner. Sponsor reserves right to change dates. Travel must be made through Sponsor’s agent, on a carrier of Sponsor’s choice. Winners may not substitute, assign or transfer prize or redeem prize for cash, but Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to substitute prize (or portion thereof) with one of comparable or greater value. All prize details are at Sponsor’s sole discretion.

Tax Liability: Winners are responsible for all applicable federal, state, province or territory and local taxes, if any, as well as any other costs and expenses associated with prize acceptance and use not specified herein as being provided. For any non-U.S. winner, Sponsor will deduct 30% of the total prize value provided to the winners and will remit this amount to the Internal Revenue Service ("IRS"), the U. S. tax agency, in order to comply with U.S. tax laws. Sponsor will issue an IRS form 1099 or 1042 (depending on the residence of winners) to both winner and the IRS reporting the value of the prize awarded.

13. Publicity:

Acceptance of any prize shall constitute and signify each winner’s agreement and consent that Sponsor and its designees may use the Finalists’ name, city, state or province, territory, likeness, Submissions, Prize Footage, and/or prize information in connection with the Contest for promotional, advertising or other purposes, worldwide, in any and all media now known or hereafter devised, including the Internet, without limitation and without further payment, notification, permission or other consideration to winner or any third party, except where prohibited by law. Sponsor shall not incur any liability whatsoever to the extent Sponsor chooses to refrain from any exploitation of its rights hereunder.

14. Release:

By receipt of any prize, winners agree to release and hold harmless the Sponsor, YouTube LLC, Taylor and Pond and their respective subsidiaries, affiliates, suppliers, distributors, advertising/promotion agencies, and prize suppliers, and each of their respective parent companies and each such company’s officers, directors, employees and agents (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from and against any claim or cause of action, including, but not limited to, personal injury, death, or damage to or loss of property, arising out of participation in the Contest or receipt or use or misuse of any prize.

15. General Conditions:

Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, suspend and/or modify the Contest, or any part of it, if any fraud, technical failures, human error or any other factor impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the Contest, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. If terminated, Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, determine the winners from among all non-suspect, eligible Submissions received up to time of such action using the judging procedure outlined above. Sponsor, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the Submission process or the operation of the Contest or to be acting in violation of the Official Rules of this or any other promotion or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner and void all associated Submissions. Any attempt by any person to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages and other remedies (including attorneys’ fees) from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Sponsor’s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.

16. Limitations of Liability:

Released Parties are not responsible for: (1) any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by entrant, printing, typographical or other errors or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest; (2) technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited to malfunctions, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software; (3) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the Submission process or the Contest; (4) printing, typographical, technical, computer, network or human error which may occur in the administration of the Contest, the uploading, the processing or judging of Submissions or votes or the tabulating of votes, the announcement of the prizes or in any Contest-related materials; (5) late, lost, undeliverable, damaged or stolen mail; or (6) any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrant’s participation in the Contest or receipt or use or misuse of any prize (including any travel/activity related thereto). Released Parties are not responsible for misdirected or undeliverable Submissions or for any technical problems, malfunctions of computer systems, servers, providers, hardware/software, lost or unavailable network connections or failed, incomplete, garbled or delayed computer transmission or any combination thereof. Released Parties are not responsible for any unauthorized third-party use of any Submission.

17. Arbitration:

Except where prohibited by law, as a condition of participating in this Promotion, participant agrees that (1) any and all disputes and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Promotion, or any prizes awarded, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by final and binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association and held at the AAA regional office nearest the participant; (2) the Federal Arbitration Act shall govern the interpretation, enforcement and all proceedings at such arbitration; and (3) judgment upon such arbitration award may be entered in any court having jurisdiction. Under no circumstances will participant be permitted to obtain awards for, and participant hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental or consequential damages, or any other damages, including attorneys' fees, other than participant's actual out-of-pocket expenses (i.e., costs associated with participating in this Promotion), and participant further waives all rights to have damages multiplied or increased.

18. Use of Data:

Sponsor will be collecting personal data about entrants online, in accordance with its privacy policy. Please review the Sponsor’s privacy policy at www.nyxcosmetics.com.
